The CM Pros Fall Summit 2009 consisted of two interactive and engaging workshops, enabling attendees to pose their questions to our panel of experts in a collaborative environment.
For each workshop, three 20-minute presentations were followed by our expert panel discussion, and completed with round table open discussions on the topics that are most meaningful to the attendees.
Each presentation was captured in video, included the Ask the Experts panels, and is now available on the 2009 Fall Summit page. You can also access these videos and more in the extensive resource library.
The morning session focused on Open Source Products and Standards and the Impact on Information Management
Enterprises are starting to understand that delivering content in better, smarter ways is the next frontier. That means open-source models for content that can easily be converged, integrated, syndicated, and shared. Using open source content as part of your strategy addresses issues of not only operational efficiencies but brand management, and can create value for users in new ways.
The afternoon session focused on Content Migration - the Dirty Little Secret of Content Management
One of the most critical, complex, and widely overlooked steps of content management implementations.
Analysis complete, your team selects a new web content management system. So, what's the plan for migrating content from your existing CMS? What should be migrated? Who will do what and how? Your team members look around and then run for cover. Content migrations are the dirty little secret we don't often talk about...until now. We'll consider the strategic plan, the tactical approach and the end user. This workshop will examine the issues and the best practices of migrating content. Attendees will get a clear picture of the severity of not planning for content migration, and a definitive plan on how best to tackle the problem.
